There are many injectable formulas on the market today, all with essentially the same goal; to improve signs of aging by restoring facial volume. The unique differences between formulas can be very subtle, making it difficult for patients to decide which one is best for their concerns. Here, we will take a look at each injectable option to help you decide which one is right for you!
Allofill
Allofill is a natural solution to smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. Using purified fat that has been harvested from donors, Allofill offers the benefits of a fat graft, without having to go through the liposuction process. Allofill adds instant volume to areas of fat loss to redefine the features and fill in wrinkles and folds.
Belotero Balance®
Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance responsible for keeping the skin healthy and hydrated. This formula is a soft cohesive gel, deigned to improve moderate to severe nasolabial folds, the lines around your nose and mouth. The results of Belotero Balance typically last about six months or more.
Botox®
Botox is a neuromodulator, so instead of filling in lines and wrinkles like fillers, the formula targets the nerves to temporarily reduce muscle contractions. Therefore, Botox is great for wrinkles that appear from facial expressions such as crow’s feet in the outer corners of the eyes or frown lines between the brows. The results of Botox can last up to four months.
Juvederm® XC
Juvederm XC uses an HA formula to smooth moderate to severe lines around the nose and mouth and other areas of volume loss. The XC means it contains a small amount of lidocaine to optimize your comfort during placement. This formula is similar to Belotero Balance but has results that last up to one year.
Juvederm Voluma® XC
Using the HA formula, Juvederm Voluma XC can be used to restore facial volume in the cheeks. When placed under the skin, Voluma can give the cheeks a lifted appearance and reduce sagging, restoring mid-face volume loss. The results of Juvederm Voluma can last up to two years.
Kybella®
Unlike other injectables, Kybella targets a different aging concern: submental fullness, or excess fat under the chin. The Kybella formula uses a naturally occurring substance responsible for the break-down of stubborn fat. When placed under the chin, Kybella destroys the fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated for good.
Prevelle Silk®
Prevelle Silk is a soft, HA formula filler, effective in treating a variety of wrinkles, including horizontal lines on the forehead, frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet in the outer corners of the eyes, smile lines, lip lines, and more. The formula also contains a small amount of lidocaine for improved comfort. You can expect results to last about three months.
Radiesse®
Radiesse is a filler using Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) gel. When placed into lines and wrinkles, the skin is instantly smoothed, similar to other formulas. However, with Radiesse, the formula continues to add benefits to the skin after placement, stimulating your natural collagen growth to restore volume for up to a year. Radiesse can be used to smooth nasolabial folds and other winkles and can lift and define the features.
Restylane®
Restylane is an instant filler, using the HA formula to add fullness and smooth out lines and wrinkles. The formula works great for moderate to severe wrinkles such as lines around the mouth and nose. Unlike some other fillers, Restylane can also be placed in the lips for a subtle enhancement for those 21 and older. You can enjoy your results for a year or longer.
Sculptra® Aesthetic
Sculptra Aesthetic is different from other dermal fillers because it does not use HA in its formula. Instead, Sculptra stimulates the body’s own collagen production, naturally filling in lines and wrinkles and strengthening the skin over time. Although the results are not instant, they are long lasting, with most patients still satisfied with their results after two years.
