Breast Reduction Stories
Before having breast reduction surgery I was a confident person on the inside but a shy and reserved person on the outside. Growing up I loved to play sports. As I got older it became harder to participate because of my larger chest. I wanted to be active but, I just couldn’t gain the endurance or stamina needed. Being petite at 4’ 11 1/2″ tall, I was insecure about the way I looked. I would choose clothes based on how they fit and how they could hide my bigger chest. Claiming myself as a tomboy, was just part of my body insecurity of how clothes that I wanted to wear just didn’t fit right, or how I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin. Even though on the inside I wanted to broaden my horizons and try new things.
I had thought about having breast reduction surgery in the past but was too nervous to do it because I had never had surgery before. I had no idea what the recovery process was going to be and how I would handle it. After losing weight while working for a landscaping company during the summer of 2015, the weight of my chest was starting to cause strain on my shoulders. This strain then created a lot of pain in my shoulders. I started thinking more seriously about the surgery when my brother became engaged. Knowing that I was going to be standing up in his wedding gave me the push I needed to finally come in for the consultation.
This surgery has impacted my life in the best way possible. My brother’s wedding was a big turning point for me. Picking out a dress, high heels and experiencing getting my hair, makeup, and nails done was a big deal for me.
When relatives would comment that I looked great, I would comment back saying that I felt great! Since the surgery, my whole attitude and outlook on life have changed. I am now a happy go lucky confident person who is ready to take on the world. I’m wearing more flattering clothes that I would have never even thought to try on. Before I would sit on the sidelines thinking about activities I wanted to do and now I just do them!! This year I have tried pilates, and kickboxing signed up for a gym membership for the first time and recently participated in my first 5K. I’m excited to see what the future holds!!
