What is Renuvion?

Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses Cold Atmosphere Plasma (CAP) technology. It also uses plasma energy, which is created when gas is exposed to an electrical charge and occurs naturally, for example, in lightning. This type of energy has been used for decades for a variety of medical purposes. The Renuvion machine works by releasing helium gas, which is then activated with radiofrequency to create helium plasma. This plasma, which remains at a temperature between 100 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit, is responsible for the resurfacing effect.

Renuvion for Face and Neck

Renuvion for the face is performed with an external handpiece; no incisions are required. The handpiece is moved along the treatment area, delivering plasma energy to the skin surface. This repairs skin laxity caused by aging or sun damage. Renuvion for the face can be used on the upper or lower eyelids, jowls, nasolabial folds, neck, or lip lines. 

Renuvion for the Body

For any region of the body other than the face, Renuvion is performed through a small incision, with the plasma energy directed beneath the skin. This procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, but local anesthesia is also possible, depending on the treatment area. Renuvion may be used to treat loose skin in the arms, neck, breasts, abdomen, back, flanks, buttocks, or legs.

How Is Renuvion Performed In Bloomfield Hills, MI?

There are two Renuvion treatment methods, depending on the treatment area. Facial Renuvion treatment is performed with a specialized handpiece that delivers plasma energy to the skin’s surface. Numbing cream or local anesthesia may be used. During subcutaneous Renuvion treatment, you will receive general or local anesthesia. An incision about 5 millimeters long will be made in the treatment area, likely resulting in small, inconspicuous scars. A handpiece will then be inserted below the skin to deliver the plasma energy. The skin and underlying tissue are immediately noticeably tighter and firmer.

What Will My Aftercare Steps Be Following Renuvion?

Recovery from Renuvion varies depending on the treatment area. Most patients can return to normal routines within a few days and can treat discomfort using over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol. More extensive procedures may require up to two weeks of rest and prescription pain medication for the first two or three days of healing. 

How Long Will Renuvion Results Last?

Some results from Renuvion treatment are immediate. The treatment area will continue to improve as it heals. Final results may take up to 12 months. Renuvion is completed in a single treatment session. The skin’s elasticity will be immediately improved and continue to improve for up to a year after the treatment as new collagen forms.
