Cellfina is a minimally invasive system that is FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of cellulite. Cellfina can be used to target the thighs and buttocks, the most common areas where cellulite is present. Cellulite can be impossible to improve on your own, affecting almost 85% of women. This is why so many patients have turned to Cellfina for help.
Who is a Candidate?
The cause of cellulite isn’t completely understood, however, the way fat pushes through the underlying connective tissue seems to play a role, resulting in a dimpled, lumpy appearance. Certain factors can worsen the appearance of cellulite such as being overweight, smoking, and genetic factors. If you are in good health and struggle with cellulite on the thighs or buttocks, you may be the perfect candidate for Cellfina. The best candidates will be between 20 and 60 years old and be within their ideal weight range with fairly good skin elasticity. Dr. Ellen can meet with you during a consultation to ensure that you are a good candidate for Cellfina.
How Does Cellfina Work?
Although Cellfina is minimally invasive, the treatment will be performed with local anesthesia to ensure your comfort. Cellfina uses a device about the size of a needle. Dr. Ellen will insert the device under the skin in the areas where cellulite is present, using a fanning motion to release the fibrous bands under the skin that are causing a dimpled appearance. With the fibrous bands released, the area will be smoothed out. The treatment process can take several hours to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area and the severity of cellulite.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
After treatment with Cellfina, you can expect some mild side effects like bruising, soreness, and tenderness. This should diminish within a few days. In as little as three days, you can expect to see improvements from your treatment with Cellfina. Patients report smoother skin with fewer cellulite dimples. These results can last for several years before another treatment is needed. Cellfina can effectively improve your current cellulite, but cannot prevent the development of future cellulite dimples.
