How Long Is Recovery From A Facelift?

Facelift surgery near Detroit usually takes several hours. You may be able to go home that day, but patients sometimes spend one night in the hospital.

Your face will be bandaged after surgery, and the dressings are usually removed within one or two days. If a drainage tube has been placed, it will also be removed one or two days after surgery. Dr. Ellen will remove your stitches in five to ten days. Expect to have facial swelling and bruising in the days following surgery. Cold compresses can help, as well keeping your head elevated and still as much as possible. You may also be prescribed pain medications to manage any discomfort. Most people can return to their normal activities two to three weeks after a facelift.

Bruising and swelling can mask the true results of your facelift during the first few weeks, so it’s important to be patient as you heal.
